La band nasce nel ‘97 dall’incontro di tre esperti musicisti del circuito Rockabilly italiano: Marco Di Maggio, Massimo Di Maggio e Sasso Battaglia.

La band, dopo un tour estivo approda al Tam-Tam Studio di Cesena che co-produce il loro primo album: “Rockabilly from the Boots Up”.

Non è ancora ultimato il mixaggio del master quando, nel Gennaio del ‘98 Marco riceve una chiamata da Nashville, Tennessee; al telefono è Mister Bob Timmers,

(presidente della ROCKABILLY HALL OF FAME)il quale sbalordito dalla qualità del promo, decide di produrre l’album che verra’ poi pubblicato nell’Agosto dello stesso anno dalla Rabhof.

Da allora l’escalation del trio è costante; Matteo Giannetti sostituisce al contrabbasso Sasso Battaglia, il disco viene promosso a pieni voti dalla stampa specializzata mondiale con giudizi estremamente entusiastici; tra i più eclatanti:

Dopo molte recensioni di questo calibro, i D.M.B. vengono inseriti in numerose e prestigiose compilations al fianco di Country e Rockabilly stars americane ed inglesi. Prendono parte ad importanti meetings mondiali quali il VIVA LAS VEGAS 2000 e 2001, l’apertura del JACKSON ROCKABILLY MUSEUM - Tennessee – USA, The ROCKABILLY RAVE ’98 - UK e nel Dicembre 2001 tornano in studio per incidere il loro secondo album “AT FULL SPEED”, prodotto dall’etichetta tedesca Whampire Rec, distribuito dalla Polygram e recensito con note entusiastiche dalla stampa che li consacra come una tra la migliori bands mondiali del settore.

Nel frattempo, Marco e Massimo registrano un’album (The Golden Age Of R’n’R – Flipper Music) con il quale approdano nell’ambito delle colonne sonore, piu di loro 10 pezzi vengono infatti utilizzati in famosi spots televisivi (Santal, Honda Scooter),

programmi Tv quali Le Iene, in onda su Italia1, ma soprattutto in molti films internazionali, tra tutti la celebre serie televisiva americana “Friends”.

Marco continua la sua attivita’ da solista registrando altri 3 albums nel giro di 3 anni e con l’altro suo progetto, The Di Maggio Connection, inizia la collaborazione con Greg (Le Iene, 6unozero, Ottavo Nano, Bla Bla, etc…), il popolare entertainer romano e nel Marzo 2007 effettua un tour di 5 date in Cina.

Nel 2002 partecipano a molti importanti festivals e vengono invitati quale unico gruppo italiano ad esibirsi nel palco del ROCKIN' 50's Fest di Greenbay, USA 2002, considerato come l'evento Rockabilly del secolo. Di ritorno dagli Usa, effettuano un tour in Europa dove si esibiscono al festival Country di SANT’AGRAVE, Francia (unica band europea in un cast di soli artisti americani) e chiudono come headliners il R’n’R festival di Monaco di Baviera.

Nel frattempo lo stile dei D.M.B. subisce l’influenza del Country/Surf’n’Roll tipico del Nashville Sound early ‘60’s, dove la potente voce di Massimo Di Maggio (via di mezzo tra Elvis e Johnny Cash) s’intreccia in efficaci armonie vocali con quella di Marco Di Maggio, quest’ultimo alle prese con uno stile che fonde in modo geniale tutti gli stili Country, Surf, R’n’R e Western Swing in un mix che negli ultimi anni è divenuto il marchio inconfondibile dei Bros.

Nell’estate del 2006, dopo alcune problematiche contrattuali con la loro

ex etichetta tedesca, i Bros. tornano in studio per le registrazioni del loro terzo album, “When i Hit My Stride”, pubblicato da Area Pirata Rec. Nell’Aprile 2007 e con il quale mettono in risalto tutta la maturita’ acquisita in oltre 700 concerti in tutto il mondo.

Voce principale dei Di Maggio Bros. , Rockabilly/Hillbilly band considerata dalla stampa specializzata tra le migliori a livello internazionale.

Massimo inizia a cantare all’eta’ di 12 anni con ottimi risultati ma senza un indirizzo musicale preciso. Due anni dopo, una vicina di casa americana gli presta alcuni album di Elvis Presley e Massimo, entusiasticamente scopre quale sara’ la strada da percorrere musicalmente. In seguito arricchisce il suo background ascoltando le incisioni di altri grandi rockers quali Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Vincent ed inizia a cantare accompagnandosi con la chitarra acustica.

Poco dopo decide di dedicarsi allo studio della chitarra fingerstyle con ottimi risultati sotto la guida di uno dei piu’ grandi esponenti europei del genere, Giovanni Unterberger.

All’eta’ di 18 anni, forma il suo primo gruppo Rockabilly/Rock’n’Roll, The Sharks.

Il quartetto vede Massimo alla voce e chitarra acustica, suo fratello Marco alla chitarra elettrica e i gemelli Paolo e Giancarlo Mugnai rispettivamente al basso e batteria.

Dopo qualche esibizione nei vari clubs locali, i quattro iniziano a collaborare con le migliori scuole di ballo Rock’n’Roll e Boogie Woogie e seppure giovanissimi, effettuano concerti nei maggiori clubs italiani, suonando anche nel leggendario tendone di Bussola Domani a Viareggio, il locale storico diretto da Sergio Bernardini, dove si esibivano regolarmente artisti del calibro di Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, Mina.

Nonostante il successo riscosso in piu’ di un anno di attivita’ gli Sharks decidono purtroppo di sciogliere il gruppo, intanto Marco continua a suonare soltanto nell’ambito di registrazioni casalinghe dove affina la sua tecnica chitarristica e incrementa la sua esperienza nel campo dell’home recording.

Nell’85 Massimo diviene padre di Simone (attualmente leader degli Astrophonix e chitarrista dei Thunder Twins).

Nell’89 Marco decide di tornare ad esibirsi dal vivo e forma la band Eddie & The Houserockers.

Massimo si esibisce come ospite con gli Houserockers in diverse occasioni, ma è soltanto nel ’97 che rientra ufficialmente nel circuito musicale, formando con Marco e Sasso Battaglia (attualmente negli Hormonauts) la band The Di Maggio Bros.

L’obiettivo del trio è quello di trovare una produzione internazionale per il loro progetto basato sul sound primordiale dei dischi della sun records di Memphis ma con pezzi in gran parte originali.

Poco dopo decidono di inviare un demotape a Bob Timmers, presidente della Rockabilly Hall of Fame in Usa.

I frutti arrivano subito, mr. Timmers, entusiasta della qualità del prodotto, telefona a Marco proponendosi come produttore dell’album.

Da allora i Bros. si sono guadagnati la stima e il rispetto del pubblico e della critica specializzata e insieme all’inconfondibile stile chitarristico del fratello Marco, la voce di Massimo è la caratteristica principale di questo combo. Il suo stile vocale, via di mezzo tra Elvis e Johnny Cash ma interpretato con personalita’, è uno dei piu’ apprezzati tra gli addetti ai lavori.

Con i Bros. si è esibito in paesi quali Usa, Uk, Olanda, Germania, Francia, Svizzera, Lettonia, Spagna nell’ambito di festival prestigiosi, ha inciso 4 cd partecipando ad importanti compilations internazionali.

Nel ’99, con Marco, ha inciso un album per l’etichetta Flipper Music, dedicato al R’n’R sound ed alle colonne sonore tipiche dell’epoca e commissionato proprio da Flipper per la sonorizzazione di Films, Spots e colonne sonore. Tutti pezzi registrati sono stati inseriti come tema principale o sottofondo musicale, sia in famosi spots che in importanti films e serie Tv, tra tutte, con il pezzo “You’ll Be Mine” sono presenti nella celebre serie americana, Friends.

The band was born in '97 thanks to the great love for hillbilly music of the two brothers: Marco Di Maggio and Massimo Di Maggio. These cats, expert musicians, know how to shake that shack so, after some hot gigs around Italy, they decided to record an album. During the recording sessions, Marco Di Maggio send a demo to Bob Timmers (President of The Rockabilly Hall Of Fame). After listen it, he called Marco offering to produce the album: "Rockabilly From The Boots Up" came out during the summer '98, receiving great reviews from the international press.

They appeared in many world's rockabilly compilations as Cash On Deliverywith top american country stars, Kings Of Rockabilly Guitar and performing at top meetings all around the world, touring USA, CHINA, HONG KONG, RUSSIA, FINLAND, NORWAY, UK, HOLLAND, GERMANY, LATVIA, FRANCE, SPAIN, SWITZERLAND, GREECE, ITALY.

During this time Matteo Giannetti replaced Sasso Battaglia on double bass. Marco Di Maggio was praised as one of the greatest guitar player all over the world.

Their album "Rockabilly From The Boots Up" is the BEST-SELLER of the The Rockabilly Hall Of Fame and Bob Timmers says: "With a little luck, The Di Maggio Bros. could be the Straycats of 2000's, they have the key to bring rockabilly music at the top."

Another great comment: "Why American groups aren't this good?! I predict that "Rockabilly From The Boots Up" will be the CD of '98" (Joe Waigel - Las Vegas).

During ’99, Marco and Massimo recorded a specific album with music for soundtrack, published by Flipper Music in Italy. The 10 songs recorded were featured all over the world in Spots, Movies, Jingles, but most important, one of their songs “You’ll Be Mine”, was choosen for the famous americanTv Series FRIENDS.

During 2001, after touring all over Europe, the brothers back in studio to record their second CD: "At Full Speed".

During 2002 they play at top international meetings, backing also some Rockabilly Legends and in July they perform at the "Rockin' 50's Fest" in Green Bay, Wi, considered by the international press as the event of the century. More than 100 bands on the bill! The Di Maggio Bros., the only italian band included on it.

In the meantime, Marco produced a whole number of records and collaborations also as a soloist and with his own project, The Di Maggio Connection. Also, many of his songs were featured on different movies, spots, commercials, including the world’s famous Tv series “Friends”.

Unfortunelly, from 2003 to 2006, problems with their ex label Vampirella Rec. didn’t permitted them to came out with new records, but at the same time they continued touring all around Europe and also China during last March 2007.

The Di Maggio Bros. please the audience performing a various set ranging from Western Swing/Hillbilly to pure Rockabilly, with strong vocals harmonies, a powerfull slappin' bass and a superpickin' guitar work. Listening to the D.M.B. you can find influences from Elvis vocals style and country vocals harmonies, to great fingerpicking guitar licks, Les Paul and Chet Atkins style. They perform a lots of self-penned numbers as "Sad & Blue", "Groupy Baby" or the manic pickin' instrumentals "High Speed Picking" and "Superpickin' Polka"

In some occasions, they use to add the drummer Marco Barsanti.

They were back in studio during summer 2006 to release their third album,“When I Hit My Stride”, then published on April 2007 by the Italian label Area Pirata.

Massimo, the lead vocals of the world's famous rockabilly band “ Di Maggio Bros. ”, started singin' italian songs when he was just 12 years old.

The first chance to enrich his musical background, was at the age of 14, when he listened for the first time some Elvis’ records.

The passion for Elvis' made him a true R'n'R fan and after a couple of years spent playing the records of other great rockers, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Vincent, he started singin' and playing acoustic guitar in rockin’ style, backed by his brother Marco.

One year later he formed his first band, named The Sharks. With this quartet, composed also by Marco on lead guitar and the two brothers Paolo and Giancarlo Mugnai on bass and drums, Massimo begun his live career performing in many local clubs, also appearing at the legendary venue BussolaDomani, a big circus tend directed by Sergio Bernardini where famous artists as Ray Charles and Tony Bennett used to perform regulary.

By the way, the brothers weren’t convincted to continue their music career and they decided to do not play live anymore.

During ’85 become father of Simone (at the moment band leader of the Astrophonix and guitarist of the Thunder Twins).

From the other side, Marco came back to the scene during year ’89 with his band called Eddie & The Houserockers and Massimo was invited often as guest vocalist, but was just in ’97 that they decided to start a new project, The Di Maggio Bros., with Massimo on vocals, Marco on lead guitar and Sasso Battaglia (now with the Hormonauts) on double bass.

They recorded their first album at Tam Tam studio in Cesena, Italy, looking for an international production. They sent a demo to Bob Timmers, president of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Just after listen the cd, Bob called the bros. askin’ to produce it.

With Marco’s astoundingly guitar licks, Massimo ‘s vocal performances are the main characteristique of this combo.

His distinctive voice is a great combination of Elvis’, Cash, with an original and personal touch who permit him to be considered one of the best voices around.

During ’99 he recorded many songs on Marco’s cd “The Golden Age of R’n’R”. The album, produced by Flipper Music in Rome, Italy, contains soundtracks and songs written for Movies and Tv spots. Almost all the songs were featured Movies and Tv Shows all over the globe, including the song “You’ll be Mine”, included on the famous American Tv series, Friends.

With the Di Maggio Bros., he appeared at top festivals and venues in many important countries as: Usa, Uk, Germany, Holland, France, Switzerland, Spain, Latria, Italy.
